Terry eager for local derby test.

Rushden and Diamonds midfielder Paul Terry has revealed his desperation for a football after a long lay-off courtesy of the wintry weather.Diamonds make the short trip to county rivals Kettering Town on Saturday, having not played a game in the Blue Square Premier since December 28.

"We can't wait to get out on the pitch again - it's been so frustrating," Terry told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Being a derby match makes it that much more exciting," he added.

Rushden go into the fixture occupying eighth place while Kettering are three points better off in sixth spot.

"You should always be looking to improve," said Terry, the 30-year-old brother of Chelsea and England star John.

"We're ambitious and we want to be higher up the league.

"At the moment we're not in the play-off places so there must be something we can improve on to get there.

"And when you're in the play-offs you want to be in the top two - and then you want to be the top team."

A pitch inspection has been scheduled at Rockingham Road for 1100 GMT on Saturday to see if the match can go ahead.
