Rushden captain Jamie Stuart says the Diamonds benefit from having several leaders on the field. The 33-year-old has led Rushden, who currently lie seventh in the Blue Square Premier, in every league game this season.

"Simon Downer is experienced, Paul Terry is a good talker and Aaron O'Connor's work rate sets the tone," Stuart told BBC Radio Northampton.

"If a player works hard, others look to that for inspiration."

Diamonds lie just two places and two points off the play-off places, with Stuart confident they can mount a promotion challenge.

"With the finances [of the bigger teams in the division], they're bringing in players on more money," he added.

"But its about ability. I think we've got a good chance, we can be there."
