Grimsby will be without striker Michael Coulson (ankle) and midfielder Michael Leary (illness) for the trip.

Striker Lee Peacock is back from illness and winger Lewis Gobern has recovered from toe and thigh injuries.

Rushden & Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Northampton: "Grimsby are looking to bounce straight back to the Football League. They have the finances to try to do that.

"They had a good victory against Darlington, so they'll be full of confidence after a setback against Hayes & Yeading the week before. I expect a tough encounter.

"You don't want things to drag too long without a victory in any new season. It gives us something to build on."
